Today and in a society characterized by pacifism, NGOs and the new tolerance, many consider the Old Testament God, Jehovah, God as a genocidal, fierce and righteous (citing passages like Num.31, imprecatory psalms, etc.), a completely different God the God of the New Testament: An Jesus Gentle, kind and tolerant. But Have not heard Wrath of the Lamb? (Ap.6: 16)
voluntarily make a terrible dichotomy in the character of God, although God is "Father of lights where there is no change, neither shadow of turning" (Stg.1: 17b) and Jesus Christ "is the same yesterday and today and forever" (Heb.13: 8) God is eternally the same in all its attributes: love, holiness, etc ...., and of course justice.
There is also now a growing number of "believers" who, unfortunately, trying to mold his hermeneutical feel allegorizing today's society more and more the word of God, especially in passages that might seem difficult, incoherent or inappropriate to a loving and condescending. Some of these words "offend them" and they are "stumbling" (Jn.6 :60-61)
But ... Do not they know that God is a holy warrior, man of war? (Ex.15: 3)
The truth is that God is a warrior, and the biblical message is anything but a pacifist message. He said to Israel and to Pharaoh and his people as a powerful warrior who frees from slavery to his people and "thrown into the sea horse and rider", his enemies (Ex.15 :1-3) but also as a God whose ways are right and true (Ap.15: 3) and a "righteous judge" who is angry with the wicked every day (Sal.7: 11) and that does justice. The Israelites were aware of this fact: The Almighty God has done, he let us go free, he has done justice-this is what symbolizes the song of Moses, an archetype that speaks to us again and again to the release of a powerful God and just judging harshly and fight against their enemies.
What about Jesus? I just wanted to stop the habits of Lamb (Grace) and stripped of the Lion: The law and justice. However
God's Word also shows us the Lamb as a Lion, a righteous judge who judges all nations and destroy their enemies by putting them a footstool for your feet (Heb.10 :12-13) speaks of "The wrath of the Lamb, a Lamb judging their enemies angrily (Ap.6: 16; 11:18), a Lamb grazing "his people, leading to war against the wicked and defeat (Ap.7: 17, 19:11-18), a Lamb, the only one able to open the scroll and its seals (Ap.5: 2, 6 : 1) If, brethren, Christ is a Prince of Peace who sings songs of war, is one who by the mouth of the psalmist calls for the destruction of their enemies (Sal.69 :22-28 109:6-20)
" What authority have we to judge? Perhaps we are we God? Is He not sovereign? He Does not their purposes? Judge Not Fair?
Completely different from the wrath of man, the wrath of God is absent from all fancy and must be understood as a natural expression of his divine nature, which is holy and just and will oppose and rebel against all righteousness and wickedness (Ro.1: 18). The righteous indignation of God is not without love and compassion and often manifests itself as an expression of his mercy.
The Wrath of God answers, therefore, the demands of his holiness. God is patient and merciful, but has a "Cup" (symbol of trial). He is Holy but not forever tolerate sin. I hate therefore could not in any way away the cup of his own Son (Mr.14: 36), so we could be reconciled to a Holy God. Yes, he has to try and shed the fierceness of his anger and has a cup that the wickedness of the nations fills every day.
Anger and God's judgments are not inconsistent with his love and mercy. His love is intrinsically linked to justice, inextricably tied to the Lion Lamb. This is the reality of the wrath of the Lamb.
Therefore:
<<"Ahora pues, oh reyes, sed prudentes; Admitid amonestación, jueces de la tierra. Servid al Señor con temor, y alegraos con temblor.
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you perish in the way: for he kindled his wrath.
Blessed are all who trust in him. ">> (Psalm II: 10-12)
