BROTHER YUN INTERVIEW, CALL THE HEAVENLY MAN Brother Yun
,
- What was your first encounter with Jesus?
- As a teenager, my father was seriously ill and my mother in desperation recalled lessons about Jesus, received from a missionary of his childhood. My mother told us that Jesus had power to heal and pray all night. My father recovered and began to share with the family about the miracle. I wanted learn more about this God and so
miraculous, after many days of fasting and prayer I received a gift Bible. Nobody even knew what it was like a Bible. I was so fascinated that I read for hours and hours memorizing many chapters of the Gospels. That was how God spoke to me his word and the Holy Spirit's leadership should come out and tell others about it.
"As leader of the Chinese church, what strengths and weaknesses you see from the outside in the congregations?
- Praise the Lord that the church chose China to be one of the underground churches (house churches or "house churches") largest in the world! People are very committed to the Lord. They want to preach the gospel as true disciples of Jesus and are willing to pay any price, bear any suffering. This type of evangelism is not in the streets with thousands of people. Evangelization in China is done through the family because Chinese society is one big family. A fortress that is the Chinese church is the "house-church." When someone becomes your home opens up and a new house church. In China there are no major church denominations organizations or financial support. Each one comes and wants to be a living witness for God and building His kingdom. This is something that the Church of the West can learn from the Chinese church. As is the Acts of the Apostles, when someone comes to Christ must not only live as a believer but also as a disciple of Jesus being obedient to the Lord at all. One of the biggest weaknesses of the Chinese church is his theological training. There is much ignorance and confusion. Because churches and pastors can not establish Bible schools, many teachers are not very knowledgeable of the Word. The Western church could help the Chinese church in theological education. Missionaries could go to China and teach the truth to Christians to be strengthened and its roots are deeper. The churches in the West spend many forces, energies and money on buildings for many people gather and become famous. China Church does the opposite. They invest in missions. Many, many missionaries go to other cultures in other countries with other languages \u200b\u200bto preach the gospel. One of our strengths is that we have taken seriously the missionary mandate to go into all the world. Although never easy, it sometimes happens that a pastor has a plan to continue the vision he received and chase him, but keep going no matter what price he has to pay.
"The book" Heavenly Man "was a bestseller in South Korea in 2003. Some say that the experiences are told in the book comparable with the Book of Acts, but others have doubts and do not believe that's true. How do you take both positions?
"I believe, wholeheartedly, that when the Lord opens doors and signs and miracles happen then comes the chase. One of the strongest experiences that siblings of the whole world can not understand is that I have fasted for 75 days. At the beginning of fasting I experienced many struggles. Before being imprisoned the Lord gave me a song in my heart I am willing to be a martyr of the Lord "and then put me in jail. When I tortured myself thinking about dying for the Lord. My wish was to die for the Lord, not to fast for him. When fasting have different motives and goals. My only wish was to die and be a martyr of the Lord. When I was on day 38 of fasting, the devil came and said: - Yun, you know what the Bible says. Your teacher fasted only 40 days. You can not be more than your teacher. And then the Holy Spirit spoke to me and encouraged me through John 14:12. "Whoever believes in me will do great things, even more than I did." That was a turning point in my life. Like many others, I can not believe I'm alive today. But one thing I know, I tried to die and I did not die because my Redeemer lives. And that's why I still live.
- Do you think that the goal of having evangelized China is far from concrete?
"I think in the very near future China will be fully evangelized. Right now we have 130 million Christians in China. That means 10% of the population. Every day they become 20 to 30 thousand people. Jesus not only listen to the people of the lower classes, but also of middle and high society, including businessmen and politicians. The Chinese not only want to evangelize their own nation but also bring the gospel back to Jerusalem. All the nations between China and Israel must hear about Jesus. Many people in these nations are Buddhist, Muslim and Hindu.
- What will be your main message to Latin American youth CIMA 2010?
I have many wishes to share about the importance of following Jesus no matter the price. To be true disciples. The church needs people committed, determined to give everything for him. The Christian life is not comfortable. God needs us to be willing to die to the desires of our flesh and to suffer for it and the growth of His kingdom on earth.
